Contemporary re-enactment of 7th October 1970, when Tony and Maureen sat next to each other on a bench in Regents Park London and got talking. They went on to have a family and founded the 'Lonely Planet' travel guide company. The date they first met is shown on the numbers on the boats, and they are holding the same books as when they first met. Read more here.

Michel was former head of Impressionist and Modern Department at Sotheby’s, and Andrew’s specialist field is the surrealist artist Man Ray.

Contemporary re-enactment of 7th October 1970, when Tony and Maureen sat next to each other on a bench in Regents Park London and got talking. They went on to have a family and founded the 'Lonely Planet' travel guide company. The date they first met is shown on the numbers on the boats, and they are holding the same books as when they first met. Read more here.

Father and son Michel & Andrew Strauss have 75 years of combined service to the auction house Sotheby’s London (where they are depicted standing against in the painting). Michel was former head of Impressionist and Modern Department at Sotheby’s, and Andrew’s specialist field is the surrealist artist Man Ray.
