COMMISSIONING A PAINTING

Please message with the following details (via the contact form):

  • Estimated size/dimensions of painting.

  • Deadline (if any).

  • Materials (eg. oil on canvas or acrylic on canvas).

  • Estimated budget.

  • Brief description of commission proposal. For example:

    - Theme, idea, genre.
    - Single, double, or family portrait.
    - Against a specific background (of clients choosing - landscape or cityscape, etc.).
    - Japan or London themed artwork (or another location).
    - Multiple figure composition/narrative scene.

    Notes:

  • Once the commission has been agreed, an initial deposit of 50% is taken. The remaining 50% is paid upon completion.

  • Oil paintings tend to be slightly higher in price than acrylic paintings.

  • If interested in commissioning a portrait, Carl tends to specialise in portraiture featuring backgrounds, depicting the connection between people and places (there is flexibility in this, depending upon the proposal).

  • Commissioned paintings tend to be created from photographs. With regard to this, your geographic location may be a consideration, as Carl usually needs to take his own photos (there is flexibility in this, depending upon the proposal).

  • Pinpointing specific artwork/s of Carl’s that may come closest to your proposal, may be helpful when providing a quote.
